Sectoral Employment Development Learning Project (SEDLP)

The purpose of SEDLP was to document and disseminate learnings about sectoral employment development strategies and the outcomes of these programs for low-income people. The SEDLP was a 4½-year, intensive learning evaluation of the outcomes, strategies and industry relationships of six leading sectoral programs that was designed to offer insights to both practitioners and policy makers regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the sectoral strategy.

Results of the SEDLP research appear in research reports that discuss the methodology used and provide an overview of the outcomes; in-depth case studies of each of the organizations participating in the SEDLP; and policy papers which benchmarked findings about participants in the six programs against findings from other well-known studies of workforce development demonstrations.

SEDLP CASE STUDIES:
Recognizing that current knowledge about sectoral strategies and their implementation resides almost exclusively with the practitioners who lead such programs, SEDLP was designed as a participatory learning project in collaboration with the staff of the selected sectoral employment development programs. A program case study was published for each of the participating sector initiatives.
